CRES+5 public consultation addresses young people in higher education
Latin American and Caribbean youth between the ages of 18 and 24 who wish to participate in the virtual public consultation as part of the preparatory work for the III Regional Conference on Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean 2018 (CRES+5) can register until January 24, through the following registration form. Once the registration period is over, we will send the connection information to all registered persons.
The Public Consultation for Latin American and Caribbean youth will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 18:00-20:30 (Brasilia time), through the Zoom platform. The objective of this session is to discuss the themes that make up the CRES+5 agenda, stimulating the identification of persistent challenges and priorities for 2028, as well as the proposal of recommendations for decision makers from the vision and experiences of young people involved in higher education as students, researchers, activists, leaders and co-constructors of regional educational governance.
The consultation will be held by the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC), in collaboration with the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Organization of Students (OCLAE) and the regional section of the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UNMGCY).
Participation – By accessing the registration form for the CRES+5 Public Consultation, participants will be asked to indicate the 3 thematic axes of CRES+5 that best express their interests, concerns and proposals as stakeholders of higher education in the region. This selection will allow the organizing team to prepare focus groups of debate on the axes prioritized by each participant.
The contributions made to the Public Consultation by the participants will be sent to the consultants responsible for the preparatory work of CRES+5, in order to be considered in the preparation of the base document for each thematic axis and in the draft of the CRES+5 Declaration.
This consultation is part of an effort to increase the representation of youth voices in Latin America and the Caribbean in the construction of CRES+5, which also includes survey forms to collect contributions on the future of higher education and processes of articulation between student and youth networks.
