ABOUT CRES+5
The Third Regional Conference on Higher Education (CRES 2018), held in Cordoba, Argentina, in June 2018, approved a Declaration and an Action Plan 2018 – 2028 and, at the same time, a commitment was adopted to hold a follow-up meeting five years later (CRES+5) to promote a participatory process to highlight progress made, as well as remaining challenges and emerging issues, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
Thanks to the support of various sectors and agencies of the Secretariat of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, the Federative Republic of Brazil and the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC), the follow-up meeting of the Regional Conference on Higher Education (CRES+5), known as CRES+5, will be held from March 13-15, 2024 in Brasilia, the federal capital of Brazil.
CRES+5 will be an opportunity to review the achievements made in higher education in Latin America and the Caribbean and, at the same time, to establish priorities for the next Regional Conference on Higher Education to be held in 2028.
In this process, the considerations contained in the Roadmap for Higher Education proposed by UNESCO as a result of the Third World Conference on Higher Education (WCHE), as well as the enormous volume of contributions from the region to this global conference, may be useful.
